Celebration Children

Congratulations to the following children who have made us proud this week!

Reception - Yusuf has been chosen for making great progress in guided reading; he is now sounding out every word.  He is also trying to sound out when writing.  Well done!
Year 1 - Riley has been chosen for working really hard on his phonics in both reading and writing.  Keep up the good work, well done!
Year 2 - Iris has been chosen for using brilliant vocabulary and ideas in her writing.  Well done!
Year 3 - A child in Year 3 has been chosen for putting 100% into her learning.  They ask questions that help their learning.  Well done!
Year 4 - Nancy has been chosen for always being a fantastic role model for her peers, in every situation - classroom or playground.  Well done!
Year 5 - Ollie has been chosen for always being polite and cheerful in class and being ready to learn and work cooperatively.  Well done!
Year 6 - Joanne has been chosen for always being a role model for our school values.  She is a pleasure to teach and have in the class.  Keep up the excellent work, well done!


Headteacher Awards

Every week, all members of staff are asked to nominate children who have been spotted being responsible, respectful and ready. The code of conduct certificates are always varied and demonstrate the range of places and ways that children demonstrate these values.


 Be Responsible

Well done to the children who have been responsible this week.

Annabelle and Milly (Y5) have been chosen for offering to help pick up some lego that someone else had spilt.

Jacob (Y6) has been chosen for making sure someone was ok after he accidentally ran into them.  Well done!

Elissa (Y6) has been chosen for helping a younger child, who was struggling, with their bag.  Well done!


Be Respectful 

Well done to the children who have been respectful this week.

Rosalee (Y4) has been spotted holding the door open for an adult in school.  Well done!


Be Ready

Well done to the children who have been ready this week.

Rowan (Y4) has been chosen for always helping and being ready in breakfast club.  Well done!

Jack (Y3) has been chosen for being a role model in the class; he is always ready to listen to instructions.  Well done!

Flowering Plant Investigation in Reception
The Reception class have been investigating parts of a flowering plant. We dissected different flowers and used magnifying glasses to get a closer look. We then created our own flowers using collage materials.

Year 5 British Science Week
Y5 have enjoyed British Science Week in school. We joined a live science talk, worked in groups in a Lego workshop and investigated time and forces with pendulums!

St. Patrick's Day Celebrations in Nursery
Children in Nursery had a lovely day learning all about St Patrick's Day. They joined in making some fantastic leprechaun masks and showed them to lots of teachers and children in school! Well done children

Year 6 Lego Workshop
Year 6 Lego workshop for British Science week! Each team built something from a different period in time. They worked so well together and their creativity is outstanding!

Working Party Day

Sports News

A selection of girls in Years 5 and 6 have qualified to represent John Wilkinson Primary School and Nursery at the School Games Sportshall Athletics event as part of the School Games County Finals.  The events will take place in May, and we are very excited to compete against other winning schools from across the county!
