    This week Year 2 have enjoyed finding out about how materials change. We planned an investigation to find out how we could change solid water (ice) back into a liquid most quickly. We were surprised that the ice cube melted most quickly when we poured more water onto it!

  • Samba Band

    Year 5 have been thinking about beats and rhythm in our Music lessons this half term. We have been thinking about notation for writing different beats and created our own Samba band using recycled materials which the children kindly brought into school from home. Well made and well played year 5!

  • Wingardium Leviosa!

    Year 6 have ended their electricity unit by carrying out a variety of investigations with circuits:

    - Does the amount of voltage change the brightness of the bulb?

    - Does the length of wire change the brightness of the bulb?

    - Does the amount of components change the brightness of the bulb?

    In their groups, they evaluated on their findings and implemented them when making their magical wands!

    In year 4 we have been making mini water cycles in a cup! We hope to see the effects of evaporation, condensation and precipitation tomorrow!

  • Treasure Maps

    This week in maths we have been learning how to describe the position of an object and how to create a set of instructions to direct something.

    We created a treasure map in class and used directional language and arrows to create a set of instructions for our pirate to find the treasure!

    It was lots of fun!

  • Gingerbread Biscuits

    The Reception class have been doing lots of fun activities based on the story of 'The Gingerbread Man'. Today we enjoyed cooking and making our own gingerbread men. The children were a little worried that they may run away too but fortunately we managed to catch them and eat them!

  • Chocolate Frog Boxes

    Year 6 have been learning about parenthesis this week! ✨

    We wrote a character description that included different forms of parenthesis and then made a chocolate frog box to present them as Harry Potter collectibles! 🐸 🍫

    They were very tricky to make but they all persevered and should be very proud!

  • An Author Visit

    Year 2 have had an amazing afternoon meeting children's author Tracey Corderoy as part of the Shropshire Bookfest Readers to Writers project. We loved listening to Tracey retelling some of her stories and finding out about how she collects ideas, plans and changes her stories. We can't wait to start making our own books for the competition!

    The Reception class have been investigating solid shapes. They have made cone story characters, cuboid buildings and cylinder people. They finished the week by creating their own Jack-in-a -box using cubes.

    In year 4 we have been learning about how and why River landscapes change over time. We learnt the words 'erosion', 'transportation' and 'deposition' and explored the effects of these.

    In groups, they had to work out clues to different word classes and sentence forms to help decipher their next location around the school
